Meghna Patil

I grew up in Mumbai, India doodling on the back of my school notebooks and dreaming of pursuing a career in fine arts. As luck would have it, I ended up with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. I got married in India and came to the Beaumont, Texas in 2002. After working as a bean counter for 9 years, I quit my job to raise my kids. It was during this transition phase that my husband encouraged me to pursue my childhood hobby on a full-time basis.

I started painting with Acrylics but was always fascinated by Oils. In 2009, we moved to Houston and I joined the Houston Civic Arts Association (HCAA) to hone my skills in Oil Paintings. I would truly attribute my journey into the world of Art  to the art classes that I attended with the HCAA. I was also exposed to various art competitions through the HCAA wherein, in 2009 juried show one of my paintings won a third place while the other one got an honorable mention. This recognition inspired me to pursue painting as a full-time career. Houston has a lot to offer and it is filled with southern hospitality and cultural diversity. I have also attended different art workshops in and around Houston and incorporated the different techniques that I have learnt there into my artwork.

My paintings are inspired by nature and its boundless beauty. I use digital photos, imagination, memory and location studies as my references to create naturalistic paintings. I have always made an honest effort to try and capture the outdoor natural beauty into my paintings so that my viewers can experience the peace, serenity and beauty of the nature through my artwork. I mainly work with oils and love to paint landscapes but, occasionally I do experiment with mixed medias when I am working with Abstracts. I have showcased and sold my paintings into galleries in and around greater Houston. My work is available in different sizes from medium to big. Currently, I have artwork available in sizes from 16”x20” to 36”x48”.
